Last night my husband and I were given the opportunity to go to an advanced press screening of the new Glee movie. Let me preface this by saying that I DO watch Glee and enjoy it. I’m not saying it’s the best show out there, and if I had teenagers I probably wouldn’t want them exposed to some of the subject material in the show, but I thoroughly enjoy the music and dancing and for that reason, I did like the movie.
I’m not exactly sure what I was expecting when I went to this movie, but I wasn’t expecting it to be a concert movie…yes, I know…it’s right in the title…but I’m 9 months pregnant…give me a break! I think I expected a little more of a story line like the TV show. I did like the vignettes of other Glee fans – they discussed how the show has affected their life, and there was a great underlying theme of acceptance of yourself and others.
The music was GREAT (a little too much Rachel if you ask me) and the dancing was impressive. I obsessed a little over how beautiful Britney was and her amazing flat stomach, but then again since I’m due to give birth to my 4th son ANY DAY NOW, I guess it just stood out to me too much. I will NEVER look like that! Oh well…maybe in my next life!
As for the 3D effect of the movie, it’s still a novelty to me, I’ve only ever seen two or three 3-D movies. I don’t think it really added much to the movie, unless you REALLY want to see Rachel up close! I liked Britney’s comment that her boobs look great in 3D…that made me laugh!
Overall I’m not sure I would recommend this movie to a friend, unless they really like concert movies and love Glee. But if you do, then yes, you will enjoy this movie. Hope this helps!
